Matching the Blade to the Type of Concrete

Standard concrete, reinforced concrete and aerated concrete have different cutting characteristics. So, it’s important to check the materials listed for each blade rather than selecting on diameter alone.

The DIATECH TD-15 is suitable for all concrete, reinforced concrete, pile tops, kerbs and slabs. The DIATECH TURBO-MAX provides a fast-cutting, long-life option for general concrete applications, as well as compatible materials including stone, brick, tiles and paving.

Where reinforced concrete is the primary application, the DIATECH SG-15 and DIATECH PACEMASTER provide laser-welded options for reinforced concrete and concrete products such as kerbs, paviors and slabs. Both ranges can also cut reinforced aerated autoclaved concrete, aerated concrete and lightweight concrete.

Consider the Blade and Segment Design

Blade construction can influence cutting speed, finish and suitability for the material.

The DIATECH TD-10 uses a 10mm pie-crust continuous diamond rim designed for fast, smooth cutting through hard, non-abrasive materials. Its listed cutting applications include concrete, reinforced concrete, granite, brick, clay and roof tiles.

Segmented blades provide alternative options for heavier concrete-cutting applications. The TURBO-MAX and TD-15 use 15mm diamond segments, while the SG-15 features 12mm laser-welded segments with slanted gullets. The PACEMASTER range also uses laser-welded segments and is available for wet and dry cutting.

These differences should be considered alongside the stated material applications and the frequency of use rather than treating every concrete blade as interchangeable.

Select the Correct Diameter and Bore Size

Concrete diamond blades in this category are available in 115mm, 125mm, 230mm, 300mm, 350mm, 400mm and 450mm diameters. Available bore sizes include 20mm, 22mm and 25mm, depending on the product and blade diameter.

Before ordering, check that both measurements are compatible with the intended machine. You should also check that the machine does not exceed the maximum RPM specified for the selected blade variant.

Check Any Secondary Material Applications

Several concrete blades can also cut selected non-concrete materials. However, these should be treated as additional capabilities rather than the blade’s primary purpose.
